Ambedded Ceph storage appliance is an entirely no-single point of failure server design. It uses shared-nothing ARM-based microserver architecture. The Mars 400 appliance runs every Ceph Daemon on an independent physical node that provides dedicated hardware resources to every ceph software daemon. In addition to the microserver architecture, Mars 400 has redundant in-chassis switches and redundant power supplies. The M.2 SSD module used for Ceph OSD or Monitor node is dedicated to a single daemon. In case there is any module that fails, you can replace the module without interrupting the service of the whole appliance. You can use the baseboard management controller(BMC) to turn off any defect module before replacing it. All other healthy microservers in the same chassis can keep their service while replacing the defect one. The in-chassis switches and power supply modules are all hot-swappable.
