Mars 412 Ceph Storage Appliance is designed to meet large capacity data storage, it offers 12xHDD OSD for ceph cluster in a 2U server chassis, able to achieve 240TB per chassis. Large capacity storage often prefers to use HDD for Ceph storage as HDDs are significantly cost-effective when it comes to cost per TB, when the application requires storing vast amounts of data where the performance requirements are not extremely high.

For storage environments where the performance is a critical factor, the combination of HDDs OSD (Mars 412) and Flash OSD (Mars 500 or Mars 524) can be used, with Flash (NVMe) played for cache tiering frequently accessed data while using HDDs for the back storage.
